Verse of The Day

“You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you.” (Isaiah 26:3)

Class Type

Our class is about as far from lecture style as you can get. We talk. And we talk. And we talk. The instructor will prepare the lesson based on the current study materials and have a few discussion points to get us started. Class members can prepare by reading the lesson in the book before hand but will rarely be lost if they do not. We generally tie our discussions into how the materials are relevant to our daily walks of faith.

Who We Are

We are the Faith Walk Sunday school class at Trinity United Methodist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. We started over ten years ago when two young married classes merged and became the Partners Sunday school class. We are no longer quite so young and our class is no longer focused on young married couples issues. Instead we study topics that help us along on our walks of faith. We are settled into our lives, careers and families and come together to develop our relationships with Christ through study, prayer, missions and fellowship. Our class is geared towards adults who enjoy learning in a discussion format class rather than listening to lectures. We currently meet in room 268.

I was able to order the DVD that goes along with the book from Lifeway.  It will not be here for this Sunday, but will be for the next Sunday.  I will teach from the book, using the discussion questions this week.  I was able to look at the participant’s guide at Lifeway, and it is definitely a “homework” kind of guide.  You look up scripture and answer questions.  I do no think it would be useful in our study.  The leader’s guide has the scripture references and I will use that to teach with.  Lifeway had several copies of the book itself, so did Barnes and Noble.  Anyone wanting to purchase the book should not have a problem.  See you all Sunday!

Peace, Lee

Besides a pretty good turnout this morning, we were joined by the Coopers who were in town for the weekend. It was great to see them.

We have selected our next study if we can get the materials. It will be John Ortberg's If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat. We plan to start that February 3.

The Men's Lunch will be Thursday, 31 January at 11 am at Tim's Cajun Kitchen if it's still open after its owner was arrested. Stay tuned for possible changes.

We're planning on having folks out early next Sunday in the New Room lobby and the Narthex to welcome folks and help direct them to Sunday School classes around the church. If you can help out show up about 8:30am. Lisa Carter is working on some postcards to send out to old members to welcome them back if they want to return with the new schedule. There may also be some old members from some of the classes we came out of years ago that may now fit in now so don't hesitate to invite them as well.

Class Name Change PDF Print E-mail

With the coming Trinity schedule change and the chance to draw in new members, we decided to discuss a name change for the class to better fit what the class was about. The old name, Partners, was a fitting name when we were all fairly newly married and focused on young married and couples issues. We are well past that stage and instead of being young and newly married we are now settled into our lives and careers. Our studies no long focus on young married or even family issues and instead focuses on applying our faith to our daily lives.

With that in mind, we have selected the name Faith Walk to indicate what our class has become. We seek to strengthen each other in our walks of faith and our relationships with Christ.
