Markarian’s Chain

I got a T adapter to mount my Canon EOS R6mkII on my Askar V telescope and we had a clear night last night. I can get a wider field of view with the Canon than I can from the ZWO ASI585MC-Air because the sensor size is much bigger. Decide to go after Markarian’s Chain, a galaxy rich region with a neat line up of several of them to make up the chain. I would have had to do a mosaic with the ASI585MC-Air and that would have taken more nights or less time on any one part of the image.

Forgot the “joys” of doing this with a non-astro camera. Edge of the image artifacts and interesting circular gradients I’ve forgotten about. Fun relearning how to get rid of the gradients.

Markarian’s Chain

Since there is so much in that image I created an annotated version of it as well.

And finally the rig I used with the Canon R6mkII instead of my usual ZWO ASI585MC-Air.
